EMDR THERAPY

About Angela Jullings

Picture
Hello there!  Here's a little about me....my initial training in psychotherapy was 25 years ago at Regent's University in London.  After that 3 year training, I embarked on more psychotherapy trainings, including EMDR training with Dr Gerald Puk and the EMDR Institute Inc from 1998-99 along with various trauma trainings over the years.  I've been working with survivors of trauma over many years with issues ranging from childhood abuse, sexual, verbal, emotional abuse, rape and molestation, domestic violence, attacks, accidents, wars or conflicts and those who experienced religious, clerical or institutional abuse.  I have worked with Towards Healing (formerly known as Faoiseamh) as a psychotherapist for many years helping survivors from  orphanages in Ireland.  I also worked with Kids' Company, the children's charity, for a number of years, as a supervisor to counsellors assisting traumatised children and those at risk.  I am Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy and adhere to their ethical framework.   My approach to treating trauma and abuse usually entails working with EMDR, as I've found this to be a profound tool for emotional recovery as well as addressing the physical symptoms of PTSD and other conditions indicative of abuse.

I believe that every person has the ability to heal themselves - emotionally, physically and mentally.  I believe every person has a right to be treated with dignity and compassion.   I also believe that change is possible, no matter how long a person may have been suffering - that people can recover and heal.   I have paid testament to clients' ability to heal from severe trauma over the past 25 years.  I work in a non-judgmental way, providing a nurturing, quiet and calm space for our work together.  You may be surprised at how much laughter fills the therapy room sometimes.  I believe it's good for the soul and good for healing.

My experience also ranges from working with couples and relationship difficulties, teenagers with anxiety, self-harm and confidence issues, phobias, which also respond well to EMDR, PTSD, depression, general anxiety issues, co-dependency, addiction, alcohol and cannabis dependency issues.  If you wish to read about the way I work outside using EMDR, feel free to visit my website AngelaJullings.com.

I became a psychotherapist after seeing a psychotherapist myself in my late 20s.  She helped me change my life.  People have fascinated me since I was a child - their mindsets, their behaviours and their individuality.   Before being a therapist, I worked in TV, managing studios with live programmes with guests and presenters, so I have an understanding of Film and TV, crew, athletes, performers, artists, journalists, etc.

I attend regular individual and group supervision to support my work with clients and to broaden my knowledge and bring challenge to the ways I work.

I look forward to hearing from you.  Angela Jullings
